On the 11th, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung said, “I will not give in in the future to the distorting efforts and violent manipulation of the prosecution system that turns the sovereign’s sincere efforts into crimes.”
Representative Lee said this at the Incheon Supreme Field Committee of the Democratic Party held at the Incheon City Party of the Democratic Party Namdong-gu, Incheon on this day. Representative Lee was investigated for about 12 hours on suspicion of sponsoring Seongnam FC at the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office the previous day.
Representative Lee said, “Yesterday, I faced the political prosecution with confidence and came to the investigation.” Representative Lee said, “Even if the prosecution slanders and falsifies, the people and history will win.”
Representative Lee said, “The president’s office is secretly saying that it will establish a public office inspection office,” and “the appointment of a special inspector is still unknown. Everything is seen as ‘rule of law’ in the style of President Yoon Seok-yeol, except for me and my surroundings,” he said. Representative Lee said, “I want to ask if (the Office of the President) abolished the Office of the Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs for this purpose.”
The special inspectorate was introduced to prevent corruption by the president’s relatives and aides, but no one has been appointed since the resignation of inspector Lee Seok-soo, who was appointed under President Park Geun-hye, in September 2016. By referred to the special inspector general, Lee appears to have tried to raise suspicions such as the involvement of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife, Kim Gun-hee, in manipulating the stock prices of Deutsche Motors.
