Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and People’s Strength presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol attended the ‘2021 Central Forum’ and presented their respective visions for the economic and industrial sector and the future of Korea.

Today (24th), ‘2021 JoongAng Forum’ hosted by JoongAng Ilbo was held at Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Candidate Lee and Candidate Yoon attended this event and gave a keynote speech.

First of all, Candidate Jae-myung Lee said that the youth generation lacks opportunities and that the total amount of opportunities must be increased for their growth. Candidate Lee said, “The path to growth is to reduce polarization and inequity to make resources and opportunities effective, and to enable members of society to be motivated and zealous by enjoying opportunities.” He added, “By closing the gap and ensuring fairness, it will stimulate creativity and innovation among market participants, increase resource efficiency, and restore growth.”

He also said that it is important to turn the crisis of great transformation into an opportunity for new growth. Candidate Lee said, “To turn a transitional crisis into an opportunity, the government needs to make a leading and bold investment.” He added, “Investing in education innovation for nurturing future talent, research on basic science that companies cannot do, and a high probability of failure. The government should invest in high-tech fields and infrastructure that are difficult to invest in,” he explained.

He continued, “There is a need for rationalization of regulations. In the future society, there is a need for a major shift to negative regulation, which allows everything other than the listed prohibitions and regulates if necessary afterwards. Only then is the creation of new dynamic industries and the development of new technologies. This is possible,” he said.

Candidate Seok-Yeol Yoon voiced the importance of freedom and creativity of the people. Candidate Yoon said, “People’s freedom and creativity are important to make a future full of uncertainty a place of opportunity. I will promote individual freedom in all fields of politics, society, economy and culture and create a country where creativity is realized.” said. He added, “It is the great duty of the state to ensure that no one citizen is left behind or marginalized beyond that, along with the state’s efforts to guarantee individual freedom and creativity.” It is important not to leave any other people alone,” he added.

He continued, “Now it is difficult to expect a better economy by expanding economic capital.
