Lee Nak-yeon attacked “Many people and party members are suspicious”
On the 21st, Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, repeatedly denied allegations of preferential treatment for the Daejang-dong development project in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and launched a counterattack against former president Lee Nak-yeon. In particular, he aimed at former CEO Lee, saying, “The person who made the expected development profit more than doubled due to the wrong real estate policy.”
Governor Lee refuted the allegations in detail through Facebook on the same day, saying, “(Former CEO Lee) seems to have an opinion (misunderstanding?) that I can’t quite understand about the development of Daejang-dong, so I would like to say a few things.”

Regarding the profit and risk burden of the development, the governor said, “In the case of Seongnam City, even if the project fails due to the stagnation of the real estate market, it unconditionally acquires a fixed profit of KRW 550.3 billion in advance, so the risk of fluctuations in the real estate market is zero.” This was the situation where I was making a profit,” he explained. He added, “2014 and 2015 were the real estate stagnation years,” he added.
He avoided the criticism that private companies’ investment profits were excessive, saying, “I do not have the ability to accurately predict real estate fluctuations.” He continued, “I don’t think that’s what the person who made the mistake of real estate policy would more than double the expected development profit due to the soaring house price.” He argued that former President Lee, who oversaw state affairs as the first Prime Minister of the Moon Jae-in government, was rather responsible.

Regarding the lack of public development, the governor explained, “It was legally impossible for Seongnam Urban Development Corporation to finance the project due to the control over the debt ratio and Seongnam City to restrict the issuance of local bonds.” Regarding the question about the ‘return of private companies,’ he pointed out, “It is difficult to understand that Lee, who majored in law, can’t distinguish between capital and investment.”

The Daejang-dong development project is a public development project promoted by the governor during his tenure as mayor of Seongnam. In this regard, Governor Lee expressed his will to ‘break through head-on’, saying, “Please take a look at what kind of life Lee Jae-myung has led through all kinds of distortions and conspiracy.”
The former president did not stand still.
