On the 21st, presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea proposed a meeting between all presidential candidates of the ruling and opposition parties to discuss the formation of an additional supplementary budget worth 35 trillion won to support small business owners and self-employed people affected by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). .

Candidate Lee at a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day said, “I 100% agree and welcome the 35 trillion won supplementary budget proposed by the People’s Power to support small business owners and the self-employed.” We propose an emergency meeting to all candidates so that they can apply quickly by preparing an emergency meeting.”

When the people’s power insisted on an additional budget of 35 trillion won, which is more than double the government’s, Lee also responded to it. Candidate Lee said, “Let the next government procure the necessary financial resources, and if all candidates agree, let’s quickly set up a budget by first matching 35 trillion won of the project budget.” He continued, “The detailed financial plan is left to the next government official to do.”

Candidate Lee said, “If time is short, it is enough to clearly express consent. It will be possible through multilateral meetings and agreements,” he explained.

When asked whether the next government will raise funds by issuing government bonds or adjusting expenditures, he said, “That kind of talk itself causes political debate and lowers the feasibility of realization.” It is enough to judge at that time,” he said.
