Criminal psychologist Lee Su-jeong, a professor at Kyonggi University, who joined the election as co-chairman of the presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, criticized that the problem was that he used the logic of ‘weak mentally and physically’ in defending the murder case of the nephew of the Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung.
Regarding the reason for joining Yoon Seok-yeol, Chairman Lee Su-jeong said that he did not like Yun’s policy too much and that the void was clearly visible.
On the morning of the 30th, Chairman Lee appeared on CBS radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’ and defended his nephew who committed the murder, saying, “I am a legal expert, and I have defended the case where a woman was murdered while being stalked twice.” “Therefore, it is possible to distinguish between planned murder and accidental murder,” he explained. Chairman Lee said, “In both of these cases, they went in with a weapon prepared and savagely swung a knife at the three of them and stabbed them more than 20 times now to kill their mother and daughter. “Then it would have been better if I had appealed to the court to commute the sentence for now reflecting on my feelings, but I insisted on mental and physical weakness. That’s mostly the defense of the defendants’ strategy.”
Chairman Lee said, “It can be argued that the reason for mental and physical weakness is severe mental illness, but the fact that it is not schizophrenia and impulse control disorder is not an official diagnosis. I argued that drinking reduction was a reason for mental and physical weakness, but for the past decade, I have been appealing that these horrific planned murders of women should not be acknowledged because of such weakness.”
In response to the objection that it is not right for a lawyer to defend even a murderer in terms of professional ethics, Chairman Lee said, “It is all true, and I think that if my poor nephew committed a murder, I think I can help, but that’s not the problem.” It is the logic that comes out of the lawyer’s head.” He said that he can submit family petitions or hundreds of self-reflection statements as a defense method, and it is “unacceptable” to claim mental and physical weakness that is not an official diagnosis even though there are various arguments for argument. Chairman Lee emphasized that the claim of a murderer’s family cannot be a reason for criticism, and that the problem is “a kind of philosophical matter.”
On the other hand, when asked why he accepted the position of candidate Yoon Seok-yeol as co-election chairperson, Chairman Lee said, “The most important thing is that it is clearly visible that[Yoon’s promises]are lacking. He said, “If I liked Yoon’s policy, I would have thought there was no need to go, but I didn’t like the problem.”
Chairman Lee said, “For example, everything is melted into the youth policy, and there is a law for protection and acceptance and a law to wear an electronic anklet for the rest of your life, but I don’t know how that is a youth policy. “Isn’t it necessary that someone explain more specifically what kinds of problems are occurring?” he explained.
When host Kim Hyun-jung asked, ‘If that’s the reason, I might have thought that I should go and correct the lack of candidate Lee Jae-myung,’ and Chairman Lee said, “It’s not like that, because it happened. It’s because he doesn’t change his mind in a way.”
There is also an interpretation that the fact that Chairman Lee Eun-jae, the husband of Chairman Lee Eun-jae, had a close relationship with Candidate Yoon, played a role in the background of Chairman Lee accepting the post of joint election committee chairperson Yoon Seok-yeol. Chairman Lee previously joined the Special Committee on Sexual Violence Countermeasures of the Future United Party in July of last year, and was active in the presidential election preparation committee during the April 7 re-election.
