Lee visits Gangwon and criticizes ‘security populism’

Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung, who visited Gangwon-do, attacked the people’s power candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, saying he was using national security strategically.

He also criticized Yoon’s recent move as “the second regionalism”, saying, “It promotes gender conflict and generational conflict.”

On a two-day, one-night visit to Gangwon-do, Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung visited the streets of Myeong-dong, Chuncheon and met citizens.

Candidate Lee emphasized the importance of security and appealed to the votes of the border region of Gangwon-do.

“Who is the talented person who will make the people of this country live better by strengthening security, establishing peace in this country, and expanding exchanges and cooperation between the South and the North?”

Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who sent out messages of ‘first strike remarks’ and ‘the main enemy is North Korea’, criticized it as ‘security populism’, saying, “I am trying to get votes by creating anxiety.”

Recently, Candidate Yoon’s focus on targeting men in their 20s also raised their voices as “a second regionalism that promotes gender conflict and generational conflict” and “a model of bad politics that incite hatred.”

“They divide men and women, take sides and attack the other. Will you give the mace to this regressive political group with a politics of division?”

When the People’s Power Representative Lee Jun-seok refuted the 2030 policy he thinks, he said so much, he dismissed it, saying, “Politics should aim for national unity.”

Candidate Lee, who previously had an hour-long meeting with the Gangwon-do prosperity presidents to discuss local issues, also promised an active investment in Gangwon-do.

“Make it a special self-governing city. Let’s create and implement a development plan that is slightly different from the present through corresponding support.”

Candidate Lee will visit the Unification Observatory in Goseong, Gangwon-do tomorrow to announce a peace economic policy on the Korean Peninsula, and continue to attack Gangwon’s votes by visiting Gangneung and Samcheok.
