Left government in power in Norway | World | Deshabhimani

Copenhagen> Norway-led Labor-led Left government comes to power. The Labor Party has begun alliance talks with the Socialist Left and the Center Party. Sixty-one-year-old Labor leader Jonas Garstore is reportedly set to become prime minister. Heavy defeat for the Conservative Party, which has been in power for eight years.

At the end of the day, the Labor Party won 48 seats, the Center 28 seats and the Socialist Left 13 seats. The coalition has 89 seats, up from 84 in the 169 – member parliament (Storting). Red, the Communist Party, won seven seats to eight. The Green Party became two and three. Prime Minister Erna Solberg’s Conservative Party lost nine seats to 36.

Jonas Garr will meet with the media after talks with Center Party leader Trigley Slagwold Ved. Solberg has also called a press conference. It is reported that the Center Party is proposing a two-party government.

Jonas Garr, a former government official, was foreign minister from 2005-2013. The then Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg took over the reins of the party when he became NATO Secretary General.
