Less than a ‘doctor’; Brutally abused husband and wife; ‘Everything is tired,’ said Mofia

Voicemails sent to Mofia’s husband, who cried that he could not bear the torture and did not even seem to be alive, were sent to the investigation team. Investigators say it contains shocking information about the horrific mental and physical abuse that took place in the husband’s house in the name of dowry. The crucial evidence is in the phone that was seized from Mofia’s husband Suhail. Suhail does not reply except to mumble everything in voice messages. The phone will be subjected to expert examination with the permission of the court.

It has been found that Suhail’s family had objected to his son marrying someone less than a doctor and that Mofia had been brutally tortured for saying this. As the persecution intensified, Mofia moved to her own home in Edayapuram. Suhail then wrote a letter to the Aluva Town Juma Masjid Committee asking them to resolve the issues and reconcile. The committee summoned both parties accordingly.

Although Mofia was ready to go with her husband, Suhail boycotted the reconciliation talks and walked out. Eyewitnesses told investigators that Mofia chased after him, but he refused. The group concluded that this was a ploy to justify itself later. Police also found out that Suhail and his parents were planning to get married instead of Mofia.
