Lewandowski scores 300 goals in Bundesliga


Robert Lewandowski (34, Bayern Munich) has scored 300 goals in his career in the German professional football Bundesliga.

Lewandowski completed a hat-trick in the 19th round away match of the 2021-2022 Bundesliga against Cologne at the Rhine-Energy Stadion in Cologne, Germany on the night of the 15th (Korean time), leading Munich to a 4-0 victory.

Lewandowski is closely related to Muller’s record. Lewandowski scored 41 goals in the 2020-2021 regular season, breaking Muller’s Bundesliga record for most goals in a season (40 goals, 1971-1972 season) for the first time in 49 years. In addition, he exploded 43 goals in the league during the 2021 season, breaking the Bundesliga record for most goals held by Muller in a year (42 goals, 1972) for the first time in 49 years.

Lewandowski, who scored his 21st and 23rd goals in a row this season, easily overtaken Patrick Schick (18 goals, Leverkusen) to keep the top scorer in the league. In addition, Munich have scored in 66 consecutive Bundesliga matches so far. This is a new Bundesliga record, exceeding the club’s record of scoring in 65 consecutive regular league matches (February 2018-February 2020). Munich, which has accumulated 46 points (15 wins, 1 draws and 3 losses), maintained the lead in the league with 6 points behind second place Borussia Dortmund (40 points, 13 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses).

Lewandowski scored the winning goal in the 9th minute against Cologne by Thomas Muller’s pass. The assistant referee declared offside, but the goal was later recognized after video analysis (VAR). In the 25th minute, a goal from Corentin Tolisso made Munich 2-0, and Lewandowski, who did not cool down in the second half, took the lead and ran further.
