LG Display welcomed Samsung Display’s organic light emitting diode (OLED) TV panel business.

LG Display unveiled the OLED TV panel ‘OLED.EX’, a collection of technologies researched for 10 years.

LG Display developed OLED.EX with ‘EX Technology’ technology that applied heavy hydrogen and a personalized algorithm to an organic light emitting device that emits light by itself. The screen brightness (brightness) has been increased by 30% compared to the previous OLED. It expresses the shape and color of the waves or leaves and stems where the sunlight shines in the river.

LG Display made a device that emits brighter light by replacing hydrogen, which is the material of organic light emitting devices, with deuterium. Deuterium means heavy hydrogen. It is twice as heavy as normal hydrogen. There is only a small amount in nature, about 1 in 6,000 hydrogens. LG Display extracted deuterium from water and applied it to organic light emitting devices. LG Display emphasized that deuterium devices are physically more stable and stronger than existing devices, and that even if the brightness is increased, eyes are not tired and the product lifespan is long.

LG Display also included its independently developed machine learning (machine learning) technology in OLED.EX. The machine repeatedly learns what a person watching TV is watching. It controls the energy input by predicting the individual usage of up to 33 million organic light emitting devices based on 8K resolution. If you mainly watch soccer games, the G (green) element is used to represent grass, and if you enjoy surfing, the B (blue) element is used a lot. At this time, LG Display explained that it extends the product life by exchanging energy with the less used R (red) element.

The design has also improved. OLED.EX panel bezel (edge) has been reduced by 30% from 6mm to 4mm based on 65 inches. You can immerse yourself in the screen. Vice President Oh said, “Reducing the bezel thickness was a very difficult task,” and confidently said, “The design will be the best among OLEDs on the market.”

LG Display has decided to apply OLED.EX to all series of OLED TV panels made in Paju, Gyeonggi-do and Guangzhou, China from the second quarter of next year.

LG Display named the next-generation panel OLED.EX with the intention of giving customers an evolved experience through ‘the continuous evolution of OLED’. OLED is a display in which each pixel emits light by itself without a backlight, which is a separate light source. It has rich color expression, including perfect black, and the response speed is evaluated as the best in the world.
