Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Manpower and Indigenization is introducing a new system to ensure safe accommodation for workers.
Ibrahim Abdurrahman Al Amari, director of the ministry’s occupational health and safety department, said he would ensure that workers and employers meet health and safety standards.
Workers’ accommodation centers are also advised to register on the ministry’s website. Facilities will be evaluated by conducting a lightning inspection. The ministry will also help find new accommodation.
Terms
A worker should have at least 3 square meters of living space.
Own bed and ancillary facilities should be provided.
The refrigerated room should be well ventilated and well lit.
പ്രത്യേക Special arrangements should be made for washing, cooking and eating.
Must have fire and defense systems.
∙ Drinking water needs a filtered cooler.
∙ LPG cylinders should be stored in a separate place.
There should be medical service and prayer rooms.
സൗകര്യ Facilities should be provided as a toilet for 8 persons.
Action will be taken against those who do not comply with the conditions.
