Lim Hee-jung, ‘Slam Dunk’ Eagle… KLPGA ‘LF Hedges Point King’s Match, Sole Lead on the 1st Day

On the 20th, Lim Hee-jung showed off her fierce shot feeling by recording a ‘slam dunk’ eagle on the first day of the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) LF Hedges Point Wangjung Championship (total prize of 170 million won) held at JNJ Golf Resort (par 72) in Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, on the 20th. took the lead alone.

Hee-jung Lim hit a 9-under 63 with one eagle, eight birdies, and one bogey. Lim Hee-jung, who started the tournament with a 3-under par, recorded a 12-under total and took the lead by five strokes, beating Park Hyun-kyung and Anna Lin, who tied for second place with a 7-under par.

This competition is an event competition in which 10 players, including the top 8 players and 2 invited players, determined by converting the KLPGA Tour 2021 season rankings and number of strokes into points.

In addition to Im Hee-jung, Park Hyun-kyung, Anna Lin, Lee So-mi, Kim Ji-young, Hae-ran, Kim Su-ji, Lee Ga-young, Kim Woo-jeong, and Huh Da-bin participated in this year’s competition.

Additional points were calculated according to the LF point ranking, and Hee-Jeong Lim took first place and started the game with a 3-under par. Park Hyun-kyung and Lee So-mi, tied for second place, started with a two-under par.

Hee-jung Lim started the game happily by catching a birdie from the 1st hole, and then recorded 5 consecutive birdies from the 7th hole, increasing momentum. Especially on the 17th hole, which was a par 5, the highlight was the so-called ‘slam dunk’ eagle, where the third shot went straight into the hole.

The tournament was held without spectators due to COVID-19, and after the first round, a ‘LAN Fan Meeting’ was held through the SBS Golf YouTube channel, the host broadcaster. Then, an auction of the players’ cherished items was held in the form of a live broadcast at ‘LF Mall’.
