BELGRADE – The president of the Union of Serbs from the region, Miodrag Linta, stated that the crimes against civilians in Sarajevo’s Markale market in 1994 and 1995 were committed by the Muslim side with the aim of serving as an excuse for NATO to bomb the Republika Srpska massively.
“Western and Muslim propaganda used the crime against civilians at the Markale market as a means to further portray Serbs as criminals and Muslims as victims,” Linta points out.
He believes that the time will come when the real truth will be established, who are the persons responsible for the crimes committed in Markale.
Linta points out that it was absolutely not established that the mortar shell that fell on the market on February 5, 1994 was fired from Serbian positions.
“On that occasion, 68 citizens of Sarajevo were killed, while 142 were wounded,” Linta reminds in the announcement.
According to him, the members of the Republika Srpska Army were falsely accused of having committed the second massacre at the Markale market, which happened a year and a half later, when 37 civilians were killed and 90 were injured.
“Several independent teams of investigators, including UN experts, have determined that there is no concrete evidence that mortar shells in both massacres were fired from Serbian positions,” Linta reminded.
He points out that in both cases, a crime against civilians was committed by the Muslim side with the aim of serving as an excuse for NATO to massively bomb the Republika Srpska.
