Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Former captain Sachin Baby, who led Kerala from a slump to a resounding victory in the match against Services, entered the 4000-run club in first-class cricket. The 34-year-old Sachin made his first-class cricket debut in 2009 against Andhra Pradesh and has so far scored 4149 runs in 80 matches with 9 centuries and 20 fifties. In this season, he has scored 613 runs including 2 centuries and 3 half centuries in just 5 matches.
There was a bit of concern when we were 19 for 4 against Services. But my highest score of 250 in Ranji in 2016 was against Services. Akshay Chandran, who was part of that innings, was also present here. I was reminded of that old innings. We played with the same spirit and scored with confidence. Sachin said that Salman and Sijomon who came after gave good support.
Sachin, the captain who led Kerala to the quarters and semi-finals for the first time in Ranji, has also been included in the India A team.
