Show host Jung Yoon-jung, who was criticized for using profanity during a live broadcast of home shopping, finally apologized after a month and a half.

In an article posted on his SNS (social network service) on the 17th, Mr. Jung said, “I acknowledged the fact that I used inappropriate expressions and, to be precise, offensive language during the broadcast on January 28th, and I am sorry for the precious people who always gave me affection and attention, who must have been hurt by this. We sincerely bow our heads in apology to our customers and all the broadcasters who had to suffer a lot of inconvenience and damage.”

Mr. Jeong also said, “I was in a situation where I met a good product and received undeserved love, so I always looked back at myself and thought about returning the love I received, but in the end I said something no I should have done it.” I couldn’t do it, but a lot of people pointed out my mistakes, and I also watched Gina’s broadcast over and over again and realized how big a mistake I had made.”

He added, “I apologize again for the delay in even a sincere apology.”

On January 28, during a live broadcast of home shopping for makeup sales, Jeong cursed with “XX”. Make-up, which was a sell-out product, sold out earlier than expected, but they expressed angry displeasure when the broadcast could not be ended early due to programming problems.

When this part became an issue, he responded, “I’m sorry for sometimes using inappropriate language during broadcasts, but remember to treat it as entertainment.”

After the broadcast, criticism from viewers that Mr. Jeong’s response was insincere continued, and a number of complaints were also received from the Korean Communications Standards Commission.

The members of the vigilance committee held a meeting on the 14th and unanimously decided on a ‘statement of opinion’ which gave them the opportunity to explain before imposing sanctions.

In the process, Mr. Jeong also engaged in a war of words with some netizens. When a netizen commented on Jung’s SNS account, “Are you comfortable broadcasting?”, he refuted, and then the account was transferred to private for a while as protest comments continued.

As a freelancer who has been working as a show host since 2002, Jeong is known to be treated at the highest level in the industry. Thanks to his popularity, he appeared in various entertainment shows.
