[마이데일리 = 런던 유주 정 통신원] English Premier League (EPL) Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about Mohamed Salah. Salah is known to be at odds with the club over a wage increase.
“We know Salah wants to stay, and we want him to stay at Liverpool,” Klopp said at a press conference ahead of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal on the 12th local time.
“It can be dangerous to have an interview like this when you’re not talking to the players directly,” Klopp said cautiously. “Negotiation takes time. But everything is going in a good direction,” he added.
He even joked to the reporters, saying, “The fans aren’t as impatient as you are.”
“Fans know our club and the people who have been dealing with various issues for quite some time,” Klopp said. Still, he explained, “I can’t say anything unless the problem is finished.”
According to an exclusive interview with Salah published by British magazine GQ the day before, Salah said, “I want to stay at Liverpool, but this matter is in their hands, not mine.” “They (the club) know what I want. ” he said.
According to multiple British media outlets, Salah has been demanding a double the current wage. However, there is speculation that the club’s thoughts on this issue have been long and that it has been hurt. Salah’s current weekly salary is said to be just over £200,000. In an interview with GQ, Salah insisted, “I’m not asking for nonsense.”
Salah is the number one contributor to Liverpool’s performance. In the Premier League this season, he has recorded 16 goals and 9 assists in 20 appearances and is the top scorer in the league.
