The qualified high-level meeting revisits the priority actions relating to the strengthening of institutions and human capacities to ensure the sustainable management of fertilizers and soil health, in particular through the promotion of appropriate technologies, the establishment of soil analysis, and the creation of regional knowledge exchange networks.

Ministers from member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and the International Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS), exchange with technical and financial partners on options and means to increase local production of fertilizers, improve distribution infrastructure and strengthen intra-regional trade in fertilizers.
