The Longbang Port Expansion Project in Jingxi City, located in the Baise City district of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was recently granted approval by the Inspection and Certification Working Group. Comprising members from various agencies, including the Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China, the project aims to enhance the transportation capacity of the land border crossing, catering not only to passengers, goods, and vehicles from China and Vietnam but also from other countries.
Improvements and Expansion of Passenger Inspection Capabilities
The primary focus of the Longbang checkpoint expansion project is the enhancement and expansion of passenger inspection capabilities. This includes the upgrading and improvement of the Naxi freight lane, as well as the construction of a new five-story Level 2 passenger inspection building. Additional construction work has also been initiated for the Naxi transport lane, spanning an area of 230,000 square meters. This area will feature a commercial zone to serve individuals residing near the border, as well as facilities such as a general trading area, a bonded goods area, and a cross-border e-commerce zone, according to the Public Relations Bureau of Jingxi City.
A Key Border Crossing and International Transport Hub
The Longbang Checkpoint is one of the three major border checkpoints in Guangxi and serves as a vital land route connecting the Indochina Peninsula with central and western China. Moreover, it acts as an international transport hub for the new Western Land-Sea Transport Corridor. Over the years, the volume of imported and exported goods passing through the Longbang border crossing has seen a continuous increase. In the first half of 2023 alone, the checkpoint facilitated the movement of nearly 6,000 vehicles, with a foreign trade value of approximately 14.14 billion yuan. Additionally, the mutual import value stood at 1.13 billion yuan, with an on-site import processing value of 740 million yuan.
