TOKYO: Indian boxer Lovelina Borgohain will head to the Olympics final today. In the semifinals, Lovelina will face Turkey’s Busenas Surmeneli. The match will be played at 11 am.
If she wins, she will be the first Indian boxer to reach the Olympic boxing final. Lovelina has become the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal after Vijender Singh (2008) and Mary Kom (2012).
Rival Busenas is the world number one. Current world champion in the welterweight division. This is the first Olympics for Lavalina and Busenas. This is the first time the two have clashed.
