Mainland Chinese Suppliers Play Crucial Role in iPhone 15 Series Supply Chain

A significant number of mainland Chinese suppliers have secured essential positions in the supply chain of Apple’s latest iPhone 15 series, according to industry analysts and foreign investment institutions. The revelation indicates China’s continued dominance in supplying key components for Apple’s flagship products.

Quadruple Reflective Prism Design

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from mainland Tianfeng International Securities has disclosed that Apple’s flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max periscope camera is likely to feature a quadruple reflective prism design, with manufacturing duties primarily assigned to Zhejiang Lante Optics China. Zhejiang Crystal Optoelectronics is speculated to be the secondary supplier for this critical component, as concluded by Japanese foreign-funded organizations.

Camera Lens Modules

The supply chain analysis further reveals that mainland Chinese supplier China Gaowei Electronics is expected to provide front face lens modules for the iPhone 15 series, according to Ming-Chi Kuo and American and Japanese foreign investors. Additionally, China Sunny Optical is identified as the potential supplier for a range of camera lens modules.

Central Processor

The iPhone 15’s new A17 Pro central processor is produced using the TSMC N3E process, ensuring enhanced performance and efficiency.

Semiconductor Packaging

USI Electronics, a subsidiary of ASE Investment Holdings, is believed to be the primary supplier of system-in-package (SiP) modules for the iPhone 15 series, reports the study. Chinese companies China Changdian Technology and Luxshare Precision are expected to collaborate with USI Electronics in establishing a robust SiP module supply chain. Japanese foreign investors are estimated to join the assembly as well.

Protective Glass Backplane

China Lens Technology and Bourne Optics remain the sole suppliers for the protective glass backplane. Goertek continues to dominate the supply of acoustic components, while Guangdong Desai Battery and Sunwanda Electronics are identified by Japanese foreign-funded organizations as key players in the iPhone 15 series battery packaging supply chain.

Screens and Assembly

The iPhone 15 series mainly relies on screen suppliers Samsung Display and LG Display, with the possibility of BOE joining in the future.
