[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] Jae-seong Lee (29) of Mainz, a German professional soccer team, finally scored his debut goal in the first division of the Bundesliga.

Jae-seong Lee scored the opening goal in the away match against Bielefeld in the first round of the Bundesliga in the 2021-22 season held at Schko Arena in Bielefeld, Germany on the 30th (Korean time), leading Mainz to a 2-1 victory.

This is the first goal scored in the Bundesliga 1st division after playing for Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga 2nd division and moving to Mainz in the Bundesliga 1st division this season. It was also the second offensive point of the season (one goal and one assist) following the first assist in the 8th round against Borussia Dortmund.

Lee Jae-seong, who started as a second-line attacking midfielder in the 3-1-4-2 formation that day, scored the first goal in the 25th minute. In the counterattack situation, when Karim Onishiwo’s shot from the right side of the goal area hit the opposing goalkeeper, Jae-Sung Lee shot again with his right foot and shook the net.

Mainz took a 1-0 lead with Lee Jae-seong’s opening goal and allowed Bielefeld to equalize in the 42nd minute. In the Mainz half, players from both teams fought for the ball, and as the ball floated high, Bielefeld midfielder Jacob Laursen scored the goal with a right-footed volley.

However, Mainz broke the balance again in the 23rd minute of the second half. Jonathan Berkart took the ball from the opposing defense near the half-line and then slammed into the door to score.

Lee Jae-seong was substituted for Leandro Baheiro in the 32nd minute of the second half. Mainz held the lead by one goal until the final whistle. Mainz, who has won two consecutive victories, has moved up to fifth place in the league (5 wins, 1 draws, 4 losses, 16 points).

On the other hand, Freiburg’s Jung Woo-young started in the match against Greuter Fürth and played the ground for 75 minutes until he was substituted in the 30th minute of the second half. Although he did not record an attacking point, his vigorous movement contributed to the 3-1 victory.

Jung Woo-young, who started in the last five games in a row, has scored three goals this season. Freiburg, which has been unbeaten in the last 10 matches (6 wins, 4 draws), is in third place (22 points) in the league.
