The Kerala Blasters lost the pre-season football match against Kerala United FC ahead of the ISL. Kerala United defeated Kerala Blasters by an unbeaten margin in a match played at Panampally Nagar. This was the Blasters’ first game under new coach Ivan Vukomanovic.

Bujair scored in the first half to give the Blasters the lead. The pre-season matches are ahead of the Indian Super League football season. This is Kerala United’s first appearance since Bino George took over as coach.

The Blasters had a great performance against Kerala Premier League semi-finalists Kerala United. Albino Gomez was under the net. Sanjeev Stalin, Sandeep Singh, Abdul Haque and Jesse Carneiro lined up on defense. Lalthatanga Kholring, Harmanjot Khabra, Saytyasen Singh and Prashant K became the middle order fighters. Shubhaghosh and Naurem Mahesh led the attacks. The defensive line-up throughout the match has given the team hope in the new season.

Bujir’s goal came in the 42nd minute. The shot was from an impossible angle to the right of the goal face. Goalkeeper Albino Gomez made the ball into the net. The Blasters then saw moves one after the other in the United goal line. United made some isolated moves but the Blasters defense effectively blocked it. Albino Gomez’s excellent saves were also decisive in the match.

The next match of Kerala Blasters against United FC will be played on August 27. The last warm-up match of the Kerala Blasters will be against Jammu & Kashmir Bank FC on September 3.
