The Indian hockey team has won a medal after waiting for 41 years in hockey at the Olympics. The Indian men’s team won the historic medal by defeating Germany by four goals to four in a thrilling bronze medal match. After trailing by two goals in the match, India won the toss and elected to bat. Indian goalkeeper Sreejesh’s saves in the match were also instrumental in India’s victory.

Simranjeet Singh scored two goals for India. Hardik Singh, Rupinderpal Singh and Harmanpreet Singh scored the goals. Timur Orus scored two goals for Germany.

The Punjab government has announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each for the Punjab team that won the bronze medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics. Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi’s announcement came after he defeated Germany in the bronze medal match. The Punjab minister told their hockey players that they are looking forward to your return to celebrate the victory they deserve.

The Indian hockey team consists of eight Punjabi players. Earlier, the Punjab minister had announced that his players would be given Rs 2.25 crore each if they won a gold medal.

This is the first medal won by the Indian team since the 1980 Moscow Olympics. India’s last medal in hockey was gold in Moscow. Then and now India is winning a medal. This is India’s third bronze medal in the history of the Olympics. India has won eight gold, one silver and three bronze medals in hockey at the Olympics.

The Indian women’s hockey team was eliminated in the semifinals of the Olympics. The Indian team lost the exciting match by two goals to one. India took the lead early in the match but lost 1-2 when Argentina broke through the Indian defense twice. India will now face Britain in a bronze medal match. For the first time in the history of the Olympics, the Indian women’s hockey team reached the semi-finals. Although India finished fourth in the 1980 Olympics, only six teams competed in the Games.
