‘Maldini family’ 3rd generation Serie A score… Daniel AC Milan debut goal

The Italian football legend ‘The Maldini Family’ has written a new history of scoring in Serie A for the third time.

AC Milan’s Daniel Maldini (20) started in an away match against Spezia in the 6th round of Serie A for the 2021-2022 season held at Alberto Pico Stadium in La Spezia, Italy on the 25th (Korea time) and took the lead in the 3rd minute of the second half. contributed to the team’s 2-1 win.

From the right side of the penalty area, a cross from Pierre Kalulu was headered by Daniel Maldini from the front of the goal to upset the balance.

It was Daniel Maldini’s first goal for AC Milan and his Serie A debut.

With this goal, the Maldini family set the record for scoring in Serie A for the third time.

Daniel’s grandfather is the late Cesare Maldini, and his father is Paolo Maldini (53).

Cesare Maldini, former coach of the Italian national football team, who died in 2016 at the age of 84, played for AC Milan as a defender from 1954 to 1966.

Paolo Maldini is a legendary Italian footballer who played 126 matches (7 goals), including 4 appearances in the World Cup from 1988 to 2002.

As a professional player, he was a ‘one club man’ who played 25 seasons only at AC Milan from 1984 to 2009.

He appeared in 647 Serie A matches and served as the team’s symbol for a long time as captain.

Cesare and Paolo Maldini also stepped on the stage together for the second consecutive World Cup as coach and player.

Cesare led Italy in the 1998 World Cup in France and Paraguay in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, while Paolo represented Italy in both tournaments.

The Maldini family’s relationship with AC Milan was Paolo’s second son, Daniel.

Daniel, who signed a Under-19 (U-19) team contract with AC Milan in the summer of 2018 at the age of 17, extended his contract with AC Milan until June 2024 in November 2019.

Then, in February 2020, he made his Serie A debut.

Daniel’s position is, unlike his grandfather and father, a striker or an attacking midfielder.

This match against Spezia was Daniel’s 10th Serie A match and his first start.

According to the Associated Press, Daniel scored 13 years and 179 days after his father Paolo’s goal against Atalanta in 2008 and 60 years and 22 days after his grandfather Cesare’s 1961 league goal against Catania in Serie A.

Paolo, who is currently working as the Technical Director at AC Milan, watched the match from the stands and got up and clapped his hands in joy when Daniel scored a goal.

Earlier, Daniel’s older brother Christian Maldini (25) also grew up as a defender in the AC Milan youth team.

However, he did not reach a contract with the first team, and after leaving AC Milan in 2016, he has been playing in Italy’s 3rd and 4th divisions Serie C and D.

On the other hand, with this victory, AC Milan have been undefeated in 6 matches (5 wins, 1 draw) since the opening day, and took the lead in the league, beating Napoli (5 wins), which has not played one game yet.
