Vadakancherry: Anchappura Sarath (25), a resident of Vaikom Iyerkulangara, was arrested from Poovar, Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old girl from Kumbalangad.
He tied up the girl and later took her home. The girl committed suicide following the same.
He was the temporary peacemaker of the temple.
The police said that the girl committed suicide on the 28th as she was upset that the child was taken home.
