Man Utd decide to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: reports

The Times reports that Manchester United have decided to sack coach Ole Gunnar Soulshire following their embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Watford in the Premier League.

Despite having Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Varane and Jaden Sancho in the summer transfer window, the defeat against Watford was the final blow to Soulshire, who were under pressure following the team’s poor performance.

Manchester United called an emergency board meeting at 7pm UK time in the second half of the match against Watford. The Times reports that at the meeting, Richard Arnold, Managing Director of Manchester United’s Group, was instructed to discuss the exact terms of the termination of his contract with the Soulshire club.

Soulshire, who signed a 2024 deal with Manchester United last July, is expected to be paid 7 7.5 million (approximately Rs 75 crore).

At the same time, the Times reports that the Glaser family, who own the club, have asked club officials to expedite efforts to persuade Zinedine Zidane to take over as Manchester United manager to replace Soulshire. As part of this, the English media reports that Sedan has been offered a better pay package and that the club owners have given the green light.

In addition to Zidane, current Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers, Ajax coach Eric Ten Hogg and locomotive Moscow’s head of sports and development Ralph Rangnik have all been linked with a move to Manchester United.
