Ulsan Hyundai Mobis coach Yoo Jae-hak set a record of 700 wins for the first time in professional basketball.

Hyundai Mobis won 80-61 in the away match against Changwon LG in the 2021-2022 professional basketball regular league held at Changwon Gymnasium on the 12th.

With this victory, coach Yoo Jae-hak became the first professional basketball manager to achieve 700 victories in the regular league. Director Yoo Jae-hak said, “I have been doing this for a long time, so I have set this record.

Unlucky player life, becoming a great coach

Yoo Jae-hak, who made his name as a ‘genius guard’ as a player, retired at the young age of 28 due to a knee injury, and became a leader.

Also, he moved to Hyundai Mobis in 2004 and is the longest-serving professional basketball coach, guarding the basketball court bench without skipping a single season for 24 years. In particular, he is the best strategist, earning the nickname ‘Mansu’ because he has ‘there are ten thousand numbers’.

Coach Yoo Jae-hak recorded a win rate of 57.5% in 1217 matches, achieving 700 wins (517 losses). In the process, he also won the championship game six times. Compared to Jeon Chang-jin, Jeonju KCC manager Jeonju KCC’s 840 games and 491 wins, who is second in the regular season in wins, you can see how unique coach Yoo Jae-hak’s record is.

However, as manager Yoo Jae-hak, who has fallen into the lower ranks of Hyundai Mobis this season, it was more important to achieve one win in front of him than to achieve 700 wins.

The match was fierce. In Hyundai Mobis, Jae-seok Jang consistently scored from the bottom of the goal, and Jeong Seong-ho took the lead in the attack with three stores on the outskirts. LG also counterattacked with Kang Byung-hyun and Park Jeong-hyun, and the first quarter ended with Hyundai Mobis narrowly leading 21-19.

This trend continued into the second quarter. Hyundai Mobis seemed to run away with Seo Seong-jin’s three consecutive stores, but LG played a better game with Lee Kwan-hee’s seasoned lead and Park Jung-hyun’s goals, and the first half ended with a tie of 38-38.

Jinsoo Choi sets record with powerful two-handed dunk

The game took shape from the third quarter. Hyundai Mobis started to widen the gap as Earl Clark took control of the bottom of the goal, and Jae-seok Jang and Seong-jin Seo shot confidently, leading to a goal. On the other hand, LG had a hard time with domestic players, but asm Marei, a foreign player, was blocked by Hyundai Mobis’ defense.

Hyundai Mobis continued its offensive in the last 4 quarters. The goal was scored regardless of the inside or outside, and he ran away by around 20 points. When there was room, Hyundai Mobis heated up the atmosphere in the stadium even more ahead of coach Yoo Jae-hak’s record with Choi Jin-soo’s powerful two-handed dunk.

LG, which could not get over the hurdle in the match, lost the will to pursue by playing a lethargic game, conceding even an offensive rebound when Hyundai Mobis failed a free throw.

Hyundai Mobis won by 19 points, but as coach Yoo Jae-hak emphasized defense and organizational power, blocking LG’s attack with solid defense rather than attack was effective. In particular, Marai, who leads LG’s attack, tied with only 4 points. In the midst of this, LG recorded a double-double with Park Jung-hyun’s 21 points and 10 rebounds, but the light of the team’s defeat faded away.

With this victory, Hyundai Mobis moved from joint eighth place to eighth place with 6 wins and 8 losses this season. On the other hand, LG did not come out of the bottom with the disgrace of being the first to lose 10 (3 wins) out of 10 clubs.
