Former world number one Martina Navratilova announced that she had beaten cancer.
“I was in total panic for three days thinking I might not see next Christmas. Who has double cancer? Now, as far as doctors know, I have overcome cancer,” Navratilova said.
Recall that in early November, a 66-year-old ex-tennis player was found to have an enlarged lymph node in her neck, and the examination revealed two types of oncology at once – the throat and the mammary gland.
In 2010, the former athlete already had breast cancer, but she coped with the disease.
Born in Prague, Martina Navratilova has competed professionally under the US flag since 1981. She was number one in the world for 331 weeks and won 18 Grand Slams.
