Captain Glenn Maxwell, who was unbeaten on 154 off 64 balls, put on an incredible performance for Melbourne. With this, Maxwell set the highest individual score in the BBL. Marcus Stones was unbeaten on 75 off 31 balls. The duo put on 132 for the third wicket with just 54 balls to spare.
Stars’ innings was opened by Maxwell and Joe Clark. The Stars, attacking from the first ball, scored 97 in the first seven overs. The partnership ended when Joe Clarke was dismissed for 35 off 18 balls. Nick Larkin (3) was out quickly. Maxwell, meanwhile, scored a century off just 41 balls. With the arrival of the Stones at number four, the Stars jumped. Eight players bowled for Hobart but no one was able to break the third wicket partnership.
