Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV with rotary engine makes its European debut

Mazda has revealed the all-new e-Skyactiv R-EV MX-30, a plug-in hybrid crossover powered by a rotary electric motor. Presented for the first time in the world at the Brussels Motor Show. Belgium

The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV is powered by a Plug-in Series Hybrid engine that uses only an electric motor. By bringing a single-rotor rotary engine with a capacity of 830 cc, a maximum power of 74 horsepower (PS) is used to generate electricity to be fed to the electric motor and the battery. The principle of operation is similar to the Nissan Kicks e-POWER system, but the e-Skyactiv R-EV MX-30 can also be plugged in to charge from an external power source.

The rotary engine fitted to the e-Skyactiv R-EV MX-30 is 15 kg lighter than the previous twin-rotor engine fitted to the RX-8, along with a 17.8 kWh battery that can drive in electric mode all for one. a distance of 85 kilometers when fully charged. And when paired with a rotary engine with a 50-litre fuel tank, it can travel up to around 600 kilometres.

Although it can be charged as normal AC charging and DC fast charging, supporting a maximum power of 36 kW, the battery can be fully charged in about 25 minutes, which is quite a long time compared to the size of the battery of only 17.8 kWh.

The electric motor power of the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV has a maximum power of 166 horsepower (PS), a maximum torque of 260 Nm (compared to the normal EV model with a maximum power of less than 145 horsepower, but it has a higher torque of 271 Newton-meters) can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 9.1 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 140 km / h.

Drivers can choose from 3 driving modes: Normal, EV and Charge, as well as being able to set the remaining battery level on their own. By which time the battery level is reduced to the set value The engine starts generating power to drive the motor. to prevent the battery level from dropping

The e-Sktactiv R-EV Mazda MX-30 is priced exactly the same as the EV version, with a starting price of £31,995 in the UK, which adds around 400 more kilometers, even if you have to refueled as a combustion vehicle.
