US House Speaker McCarthy said on Friday that discussions on the debt ceiling had resumed. Negotiations were put off until the last few days before the government’s funding reportedly ran out.
“We have been working all night. I believe we have made progress,” said McCarthy as he walked into the Capitol. “I think we made progress this morning,” he continued.
McCarthy also said he had not spoken to President Biden in the past 24 hours.
