The South Exit Building is a steel-framed three-story building, and is positioned as a facility targeting local residents and station users. Okazaki City is also known as the birthplace of Ieyasu Tokugawa, and there are many shrines and temples closely related to the city, and Rokusho Shrine, which is famous as the god of production of Ieyasu Tokugawa, is located near the south exit of the station. The concept of the redevelopment plan is “” SWING HIGAOKA “-leading the dynamic rhythm of this city-“. Based on the positive meaning of the jazz term “SWING”, which is associated with Okazaki City, which holds valuable jazz records, magazines, open reel tapes, etc. that are unique in the world, station facilities will be constructed through this plan. It creates a dynamic rhythm (flow of people) as a starting point and enhances the individuality of the region. In addition, we will grasp the needs of consumer behavior that change drastically due to the corona disaster, create a lively atmosphere as a gateway to Okazaki, and promote community development that integrates the region.
This project is to be tackled as part of the “revitalization of railway lines and regions united by the group” set forth in the Meitetsu Group’s medium-term management plan “Turn-Over 2023”. Based on the basic agreement concluded with the city, in collaboration with the “QURUWA Strategy”, a public-private partnership project that utilizes the abundant public space in the Okazaki Riverfront area, led by Okazaki City, formulate a facility plan open to the city. I’m going.
