Member of Girl Group Faces Trial for False Accusation of Attempted Rape

Entertainer A Faces Charges of Falsely Accusing Agency Head of Sexual Assault

In a recent development, BJ (internet broadcaster) A, a member of a girl group, has been handed over for trial on charges of falsely accusing the head of an entertainment agency of attempting to rape her. According to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office’s Women and Children Crime Investigation Department 1, Chief Prosecutor Kim Eun-mi has charged A, a woman in her 20s, without detention on a charge of false accusation.

The allegations against Person A involve falsely reporting an attempted rape to the police, claiming that Person B, a male representative of the entertainment agency, attempted to sexually assault her for an extended period of time within the company’s office in January of last year.

Initially, the police investigated the alleged rape attempt but decided not to proceed with the case. However, when Person A objected to this decision, the prosecution took over the case as per the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Act that require forwarding the case to the prosecutor upon receiving an objection.

During their investigation, the prosecution collected various pieces of evidence, including CCTV footage, mobile messenger conversations, and transcripts. Based on this evidence, they determined that Person B could indeed be guilty of attempted rape. Consequently, the focus of the inquiry shifted towards establishing whether Person A had falsely accused the agency head.

According to Money Today on the 15th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office’s Women and Children Crime Investigation Department 1 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Eun-mi) charged A, a woman in her 20s, without detention on the 7th on a charge of false accusation.

Person A has been accused of falsely reporting attempted rape to the police, alleging that Person B, a male representative of an entertainment agency, attempted to sexually assault her for dozens of minutes in the company’s office last January.

After investigating the alleged attempt of Mr. B to rape, the police decided not to proceed with the case, and when Mr A filed an objection, the prosecution took over the case. According to the Criminal Procedure Act, when the police receive an objection, they forward the case to the prosecutor.

After gathering evidence such as CCTV, mobile messenger conversations, and transcripts, the prosecution decided that Mr. B is guilty of attempted rape. Accordingly, the inquiry moved to determine whether Mr A had been falsely accused.
