Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs BMW 3 Series vs Jaguar XF Advanced Saloon Riding Comparison

In the UK, the XF in the price range comparable to the D segment

The Jaguar XF received a facelift in early 2020, greatly enhancing its product appeal. Not only has the appearance been modified, but the interior has become more premium.

Given high-quality materials, we also acquired a large touch monitor for infotainment called Pivi Pro. The instrument panel is also a monitor type.

It is difficult to expand the space inside the car to a large extent, and it will not be comparable to the Mercedes-Benz E-class. However, compared to the latest 5th generation C class, I think it feels wider.

As mentioned in the first part, prices have also been reviewed in the UK. With the same model specifications, the XF is on par with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series.

The rear-wheel drive XF R Dynamics SE is available in the UK for around £ 37,000. On the other hand, the BMW 320d M Sport is a little over £ 40,000 and the C 220d AMG line is over £ 42,000.

As for the numbers, the Jaguar XF, which belongs to the E segment, is the cheapest. The test drive this time is a four-wheel drive D200, and the difference is even wider.

Compared with the residual value setting plan, BMW is the most affordable in the UK. The expected residual value after three years is high, and as a result, it seems that monthly payments can be kept small. The conditions are similar for C class. That doesn’t make a big difference, though.

Consolidate many operation systems on the latest large monitor

Let’s open the door and compare the inside of the car. If the interior required for an executive saloon in this class is fully equipped and luxuriously tailored with a space for adults to sit in front and behind, all three units have fully met the requirements.

At first glance, the latest Mercedes-Benz seems to be the most lead overall. But not all seem to be so.

The infotainment system is state-of-the-art, with a Tesla-style, vertically long 11.9-inch touch monitor in the center of the dashboard. The voice recognition function has also been updated to enable natural dialogue. The connectivity is also substantial, and the software can be updated wirelessly.

On the other hand, air conditioners do not have individual interfaces, and most in-vehicle functions are operated via a touch monitor, but it is not the most intuitively designed system. For simple purposes, you need to tap and swipe multiple times.

Since the touch monitor was laid down a lot, the driver sometimes felt dazzling because it reflected the sunlight coming in from the passenger seat side. I found the BMW and Jaguar systems to be better.

Practicality in the car is equal. Jaguar has the widest rear seats, and the luggage compartment capacity is about 10% larger. Instead, the body is also large, with a total length of 4962 mm, which is about 150 mm longer than the C class.
