Mercedes F1 introduced the sixth ICE (internal combustion engine) to Valtteri Bottas prior to the first free practice of the F1 US Grand Prix.
This season, Mercedes F1 power units are worried about the reliability of the ICE, and Valtteri Bottas will introduce the fourth ICE at the 14th round Italian GP and the fifth ICE at the 15th round Russian GP. Lewis Hamilton has also introduced a fourth ICE at the F1 Turkish Grand Prix in the previous race.
And Valtteri Bottas will introduce the sixth ICE at the F1 US Grand Prix this weekend. Since the exchange is only for ICE, it will be demoted to 5 grids. The reason for the replacement has not been clarified, but Lewis Hamilton may also have the problem of having to replace it.
In addition, at the F1 US Grand Prix, Mercedes engine customers also introduced new power unit components. Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and George Russell (Williams) introduce a fourth ICE, turbocharger and MGU-H. The two are demoted to the end.
