Messi made legend of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 671 goals. Messi scored 672 goals in 980 games. Cristiano scored 671 goals in 1130 games. Messi broke the record even though he played fewer games than Cristiano. Cristiano played 189 games for Portugal and Messi played 162 games for Argentina.

Cristiano played in four World Cups, five Euro Cups, one Nations League final and one Confederations Cup final. Messi played for Argentina in four World Cup matches and six Copa America matches. Cristiano leads the goal total. He scored 699 goals in 941 games. Messi scored 688 goals in a total of 822 games.
