Messi receives death threats in his hometown: 65 people killed by drug mafia in Rosario this year alone

Although he lives in Europe with his family, Lionel Messi often visits his hometown Leo Rosario to spend his holidays. When the team arrived home with the Qatar World Cup behind them, the world saw through the media that they were waiting to be welcomed.

However, recently there was an attack on the supermarket run by Leo’s wife’s family and the attackers placed a banner in front of the shop saying they were waiting for the star. With this, the drug mafia in Rosario is a hot topic in Argentina. This was a heated discussion at the Argentine parliamentary meeting held the other day. Security Minister Anibal Fernandez also came to explain the government’s interventions against drug gangs in the country.

Despite the speech, the world knows that Rosario is one of the areas where the drug mafia has the biggest presence in the country. Last year alone, 2,077 people were arrested in the city on drug charges. Minister Anibal Fernandez says that bringing drugs from abroad is a threat in Rosario, where a large amount of drugs are abused. This year alone, the drug mafia has killed at least 65 people in the town. The government has not yet succeeded in ending the violence.

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez says 1,400 new soldiers will be deployed in urban areas to fight threats posed by the drug lobby. There will also be additional batches from the Army Engineering Corps. However, even this cannot be overcome, the current threat is the situation. Since the country has a federal system, direct intervention by the military is not possible. Instead, military deployment can strengthen the police force in the state.
