At a nursing facility in Muan, Jeollanam-do, 13 residents and workers were infected with Corona 19.

One of the inmates was confirmed to have an Omicron mutation, and it seems that all of the confirmed patients are infected with Omicron.

The detection rate of Omicron in Jeollanam-do is 72% and Gwangju is 80%.

“Delta (mutated) spread after nearly two months, but Omicron spread almost in 40 days…”

Last week, the detection rate of Omicron nationwide was 26.7%, more than double that of the previous week, but the detection rate was higher in the non-metropolitan area than in the metropolitan area.

The government expects that the detection rate of omicron will exceed 50% nationwide by the end of this week, becoming the dominant species.

With the spread of Omicron, the number of confirmed cases is also increasing.

As of 9 pm last night, there were 4,846 new patients, an increase of 1,512 from the same time the day before.

If the number of patients to be counted by midnight and those imported from abroad is included, the number of new patients is expected to exceed 5,000 again in 20 days since the 30th of last month.

In addition, there is a risk that the spread of the virus will increase if the amount of movement increases during the Lunar New Year holiday next week.

The government urged the observance of vaccination and quarantine rules, saying that 7 to 80% of Omicron mutation can be expected if the third vaccination is given.
