The Ministry of Employment and Labor, in collaboration with the Vocational Competence Review and Assessment Service, disclosed the outcomes of the ‘K-Digital Training Training Course’ selection for the second half of this year on September 26th.

As per the Ministry of Labour, a staggering 107 additional courses (offered by 84 training institutions) have been chosen, capable of training an impressive 7,969 individuals in digital proficiency each year. Consequently, a total of 55,076 people will have access to K-digital training across 631 courses (provided by 259 training institutions) in 2021 alone.

Amongst the K-digital training courses, eminent companies such as Hyundai Motor Company, NVIDIA, GS ITM, Salesforce, KG ICT, Dassault Systèmes, and Hanwha Systems were selected to operate the Digital Leadership Company Academy, offering direct training to participants across all industries.

Occupationally, the largest number of courses, totaling 24, fall under the category of ‘Digital Convergence,’ which leads the digital transformation across various sectors. This is followed by ‘AI-based software development and application’ with 19 courses, and ‘Cloud Operations Management’ with 9 courses. Furthermore, this year witnessed an expansion of training occupations into high-tech industries, including semiconductor equipment, smart farms, robot systems, and augmented reality.

The selected courses can run for up to three years, until 2025. However, adjustments can be made to the ongoing implementation and number of participants trained through an annual performance evaluation, ensuring effective and impactful results.

Kwon Tae-seong, director of the Ministry of Labor’s Vocational Competency Policy Office, emphasized the importance of K-Digital Training as a means to cultivate skilled professionals who will drive the future labor market. He expressed the intention to strengthen support for this program, highlighting its value as an innovative training model led by companies that can swiftly respond to market demands. “Through this initiative, we aim to train even more key individuals with practical expertise,” he concluded.
