An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a phone call with the Cheonji Ilbo that day, “The situation has been recent until the 13th (local time).

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met with reporters the day before and explained, “No damage to our people has been reported until this morning.”

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are about 70,000 Koreans living abroad in five states, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas, which were hit by the tornado.

Earlier, major foreign media reported that dozens of tornadoes occurred in the central U.S. on the 10th (local time), killing about 80 people in six states including Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee.
