Sydney: Handicap for Australia in preparation for the Test series against India. Their star pacer Mitchell Starc will miss the first Test in Nagpur on February 9. Starc explained that he has not fully recovered from the finger injury. But the star will return for the second Test starting in Delhi. Starc was injured during the second Test against South Africa. After that, Starc could not play the third Test.
As Starc said during the Cricket Australia Awards ceremony… “I’m ready. But if you wait another two weeks, you will be able to bounce back naturally. It is possible to return to the second test against India in Delhi.” Starc expressed confidence. Cricket Australia has announced an 18-member squad for the four-test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
The Australian team has been selected including four spinners. Young spinners Todd Murphy, Mitchell Swapsen, Ashton Agar and Nathan Lyon are the spinners in the Australian team. Both players have a spinner in reserve. Batsman Matt Renshaw and spinner Peter Handscomb have been included as substitutes. Rookie Lance Morris, who was in the squad for the series against South Africa but did not get a chance to play, has kept his place in the squad.
