Ponnani: A 16-year-old man committed suicide after his phone fell down and exploded while he was holding his mobile phone with his sister. Nisham (16), son of Muhammadali, a native of Ponnani Puthenkulam, committed suicide at Kammalikkanakam.
The mobile phone fell down and broke while he was holding his sister. The sister had said that she would tell her father when the mobile phone broke. The boy committed suicide for fear of being angered by his father.

Nisham is a 10th class student of Ponnani MI High School. The incident took place while preparing for Plus One admission this academic year. The body was handed over to relatives after postmortem. He was buried at Ponnani Thekkepuram Church.
