Mock Evaluation in September Measures Impact of ‘Kill Question’ Ban Policy on 2024 College Academic Ability Test Trend

Title: 2024 College Academic Ability Test Prepares for Mock Evaluation

Subtitle: Key Changes Expected in Ban Policy Impact

The mock evaluation for the 2024 College Academic Ability Test (CSAT) is set to take place on September 6th. This test will serve as an indicator of the trend that will shape the upcoming CSAT and offer insights into the divisive ban policy on what is referred to as the “kill question,” a controversial topic since the last mock evaluation in June.

The Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation, responsible for administering the CSAT, announced that the mock test will be conducted in 2,139 high schools (including the Bureau of Education) and 485 designated academies nationwide, starting at 8:40 am on the 6th.

A total of 475,825 students have registered for this evaluation, including 371,448 current students and 104,377 graduates. Comparing these numbers to the June mock evaluation, we witness an increase of 12,150 applicants, a decrease of 3,927 registered students, and an increase of 16,077 graduates.

Moreover, compared to the evaluation held in September last year, the current mock assessment witnessed a decrease of 13,545 students. Additionally, registered students decreased by 25,671, while the number of graduates increased by 12,126.

The evaluation agency emphasizes that the mock test serves as a preparatory examination for the upcoming 2024 College Academic Aptitude Test scheduled for November 16th. The nature of the questions, the test format, and the number of questions will mirror those found in the CSAT 2024.

Similar to the CSAT, answer sheets will be scored using an image scanner. Test takers can expect to receive their results on Thursday, October 5th.

Adding value to the mock assessment experience, EBS has announced that it will provide an accurate and reliable “mock assessment analysis service” in collaboration with on-site teachers. This service will be available on the day of the test and includes an on-site teacher bias analysis as well as an EBSi provisional scoring service.
