Moderna Says Vaccine Efficacy May Decrease with Omicron

Vaccine maker CEO warns There was a “significant decrease” in the effectiveness of the vaccine. pointed out that the mutation means that existing vaccines may need to be modified.

Reuters reported. Moderna’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said the company’s COVID-19 vaccine is unlikely to be as effective against omicron strains as it used to with other strains.

“I think there is no place in the world where (Performance) is always on the same level . . . as we have with Delta,” Stéphane Bancel told the Financial Times.

“I think it’s going to be a noticeable drop. I don’t know how much because we have to wait for information. But all the scientists I spoke to . . . ‘It’s probably not good.'”

Vaccine resistance could lead to more illness and hospitalization and prolong the pandemic. And his comments prompted the sale of growth assets such as oil, stocks and the Australian dollar.

Bangzel added that the number of protein mutations used by the virus to infect human cells is high. This means that there is a possibility that current vaccine crops will need to be modified.

He previously told CNBC that it could take several months to begin shipping anti-Omicron vaccines.

Fear of this new species Although there is no information about its severity. But it has caused delays in some economic reopening plans. and the reintroduction of some travel and mobility restrictions.
