Mofia’s suicide: More evidence of brutal torture coming out | Mofiya Parveen

Aluva: The probe team has received further evidence that Mofia Parveen, a law student who committed suicide following domestic violence, was subjected to mental and physical abuse at her husband’s house in the name of dowry. The mobile phone seized from Suhail, the accused and Mofia’s husband, contained several text messages sent to Mofia’s husband. Many of these contain strong statements in Mofia’s suicide note.

At various stages, Mofia cries out to her husband, “I do not want to live a single moment because of the unbearable torture.” But Suhail does not reply unless everything is rumored. The phone will be subjected to expert examination with the permission of the court. Suhail and his parents moved to leave Mofia and remarry soon after the marriage. The probe team led by Rajiv found evidence.

As the persecution intensified, Mofia moved to her own home in Edayapuram. Suhail then wrote a letter to the Aluva Town Juma Masjid Committee asking them to resolve the issues and reconcile. The committee summoned both parties accordingly. Although Mofia was ready to go with her husband, Suhail boycotted the reconciliation talks and walked out.

Eyewitnesses told police that Mofia chased after them but did not succeed. The police concluded that the letter to the church committee was later a ploy by the accused to justify himself. The crime branch also found that Suhail’s parents were constantly harassing Mofia, outraged that her son had married someone less than a doctor.

The District Sessions Court adjourned till Monday the hearing of the bail pleas of the accused husband Suhail, father-in-law Yusuf and mother-in-law Rukia. This is after the government counsel informed that the case diary of the police has not been received. The accused were produced in court on Thursday and remanded in custody following the expiry of their custody.
