‘Mogadishu’ wins Best Picture and Best Director at the Blue Dragon Film Awards… ‘Jasaneobo’ also won 5 crowns

The movie ‘Mogadishu’ swept major categories at this year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards, winning five gold medals.

At the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony held at the KBS Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 26th, ‘Mogadishu’ won Best Picture, Best Director (Ryu Seung-wan), Best Supporting Actor (Heo Jun-ho), Fine Art (Kim Bo-muk), and the Most Audience Award (3.61 million).

Kang Hye-jeong, CEO of Oeyu Naegang, the producer of ‘Mogadishu’, said, “Thank you for coming to the theater even during the 4th stage of social distancing.

Director Kang’s husband and director Ryu, who directed ‘Mogadishu’, also said, “I really thought a lot about releasing the movie in the fourth stage. comrade,” he said. This is the third time that director Ryu has won the Best Director award at this film festival after ‘Unfair Trade’ and ‘Veteran’.

Director Lee Jun-ik’s ‘Jasan Eobo’ also won trophies in five categories: Best Actor (Sol Kyung-gu), Best Screenplay (Kim Se-gyeom), Editing (Kim Jeong-hoon), Music (Bang Jun-seok), and Cinematography (Lee Eui-tae, Yoo Hyuk-jun).

In his acceptance speech, Seol Kyung-gu said, “If you give me an award for ‘Jasan Eobo’, I want to give it to Yohan. Thank you and I’m sorry.”

The female narrative film ‘Three Sisters’, directed by Lee Seung-won, won two awards: Best Actress (Moon So-ri) and Best Supporting Actress (Kim Seon-young).

Moon So-ri said, “It is a film that expresses the hope that our daughters will live confidently and comfortably through an era of violence and hatred. I hope that this feeling will be transmitted to all daughters of this land.” I think the future of our daughters will be brighter because there are wonderful older sisters such as Holly Bang.”

The Rookie of the Year award and Best New Actress award went to Jeong Jae-gwang for ‘Not Out’ and Gong Seung-yeon for ‘People Living Alone’, respectively. The new director award went to director Park Ji-wan, who directed ‘The Day I Die’.
