More than 22 lakh Hindus in Pakistan; Reported to be the largest minority community | Over 22 Lakh Hindus In Pakistan, Says National Database Report

Islamabad: There are 22,10566 Hindus in Pakistan, according to the Center for Peace and Justice. Minority Hindus constitute 1.18 per cent of the total registered population. The report is based on information gathered from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

According to the report, minorities make up less than five per cent of Pakistan’s population and Hindus are the largest minority community. Less than 95% of Hindus make up less than 2% of the population in the southern province of Sindh. There they share culture, heritage and language with Muslim residents. The main challenge is the harassment of terrorists.

According to NADRA data as of March, the total number of people registered is 18,68,90601. Of these, 18,25,92000 are Muslims. The report, which collects information on the basis of minorities who have obtained computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC), covers 17 sects of various faiths and religions, including 1,400 atheists.

According to the three national censuses in Pakistan, there are 18,73,348 Christians, 1,88,340 Ahmadis, 7,4130 Sikhs, 14537 Bhais and 3917 Parsis. There are 11 other minorities with less than 2,000. There are 1787 Buddhists, 1151 Chinese, 628 followers of Shintoism, 628 Jews, 1418 followers of the African religion, 1522 followers of the Kelasha religion and about six followers of the Jain religion in Pakistan.
