10 YEARS AGAIN (2009): The University of North Dakota began a spring football exercise, Monday to Wednesday. Chief football coach Chris Mussman said the move was made so that coaches and athletes can continue to take part in efforts to combat flooding in the Red River Valley.

20 YEARS AGO (1999): One search ended officially and another began Monday when Dale Lennon was named as head football coach at the University of North Dakota. Lennon, who led Mary University to a national NAIoff playoff in second place, and last season, succeeded to Roger Thomas, who previously worked as UND's defense coordinator in Grand Forks.

50 YEARS AGO (1969): Arma Bismarck agency, a smeared-B champion, Fessenden 120-90, to claim the overall title at the state's amateur basketball competition. Earlier in the day, the Arman Agency on Green Drugs broke Dick- 83 for a Class A championship. 6-foot-6 Tom Kirchoffner, who collected 28 points as leader of the way for the Arman Agency. Al Lick put 19 pints and Al Breuer added 17 to the winning effort. Gordon Baumgartner and Fred Fridley placed patches on Fessenden with 32 and 31 points, respectively.

Anthony Davis led Kentucky to the NCAA basketball tournament in 2012 and was selected at No. 1 later that year at the New Orleans Pelicans.
