A woman has been arrested in Sweden for allegedly locking her 28-year-old son in an apartment in Stockholm. A Stockholm police spokeswoman Ola Osterling told the AFP news agency that her locked son was malnourished and had no teeth. The young man was locked up for a long time in his apartment in Hanning, a suburb of south Stockholm.
But a police spokesman said he would not comment on reports that he had been in prison for 28 years. At the age of 12, the mother reportedly ended her son’s schooling and locked him inside the apartment. When the 70-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital for treatment, a relative found her now 40-year-old son locked inside the house on Sunday.
He had a sore leg and had difficulty walking. There were no teeth. The media also reported that his speech was limited. “He is in hospital and not life threatening,” a police spokesman said. The Swedish Prosecution Authority said the mother had denied the crimes. The relative told local media that the room where the young man was locked contained urine, dirt and dust and a foul odor.
