On the 31st, President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, Kim Gun-hee, met Ok Rota (14), a patient from Cambodia whom they met during a trip to Southeast Asia last November, at the Office the President in Yongsan.

Public Relations Secretary Kim Eun-hye said at the briefing that day, “President Yoon and his wife Rota, who is returning home from heart surgery, invited him to the president’s office and met.” Rotta, who suffers from congenital heart disease, underwent a heart transplant in 2018, but was unable to undergo follow-up treatment due to difficult family circumstances.

Mrs Kim expressed her gratitude to Asan Medical Center which was responsible for Rota’s surgery and Korean Air which was responsible for her transport. The medical staff of Seoul Asan Medical Center also visited the presidential office with Rota that day.

President Yoon heard Rotta’s story that he had never played soccer because of a heart disease since childhood, and immediately presented him with a soccer ball. Chief Kim said that President Yoon also played ball together, such as playfully picking up a ball thrown by Rota and bouncing it with his body. Rota wrote a thank you note on a postcard decorated with flowers to President Yoon and his wife.

Ms. Kim also visited the New Year meeting of the design world held at the Korea Design Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and encouraged the officials. In her greeting, Ms. Kim, “Since I was on a trip abroad, heads of state constantly asked me about Korean culture and fashion art, and they took an interest in me.” Don’t forget that our designers are at the center of the world with such expectations.”

Meanwhile, according to a presidential office official, Jeon Hee-gyeong, the first political affairs secretary, visited former President Park Geun-hye’s Daegu sister-in-law, whose birthday is on the 2nd, and introduced congratulatory orchid in the name of President Yoon. The congratulatory dish was received by Yoo Young-ha, a lawyer for former President Park.
